The CyberPeace Tracer is an interactive platform from the CyberPeace Institute. This first release highlights cyberattacks, vulnerabilities, and threats targeting NGOs and nonprofits worldwide. Our data is drawn from two key sources: insights from CyberPeace Builders' support for over 400 organizations, including data informed by threat intelligence partners; and publicly recorded cyber incidents, shedding light on a broader range of threats to civil society organizations.

Our FAQ

What threat intelligence data we’re looking for?

Our data collection focuses on NGOs, not-for-profit organizations, and charities. These organizations are prioritized due to their limited cybersecurity resources and their vital role in supporting vulnerable communities. We may also document incidents affecting other entities, provided these cases align with our mission to protect the nonprofit sector from cyber threats.

Geographical scope of data collection

We are interested in data from everywhere, covering incidents globally.

Ensuring data accuracy and reliability

To maintain data accuracy, we classify incidents based on the reliability of the source. The classification levels are as follows:

  • Confirmed: Incidents verified through official channels (e.g., government reports, press releases by the targeted NGO, or validated by threat intelligence platforms).
  • Probable: Incidents supported by credible media reports or independent analysis, but lacking official confirmation.
  • Possible: Incidents reported by less reliable sources, such as unverified social media posts or self-attributed attacks without supporting evidence.
  • Data from partner APIs (e.g., Area1, Bitsight, Kaduu) is categorized as possible due to the potential lack of public confirmation.
